On the road again! |
We slipped out of Caspar and snuck across Orr Springs Road midday on Sunday. Surprisingly heavy traffic on that narrow, windy road – Sunday drivers all, and surprisingly well-behaved. Strangeness at the turnoff to Highway 20, looked like ramp repair, but we snuck around that, too. Smooth sailing around the Lake, and a stop for a picnic in one of the pleasant little city parks.

Orr Creek at Montgomery Redwoods |
Out onto the valley floor west of Williams, serious winds whipped branches and leaves across the road, and made the driving difficult. Larger vehicles were swerving and fighting to stay on the road. Rochelle said, "maybe Chico doesn't want us here any more?" (Added later: this is the same wind that started the rash of disastrous fires that affected Mendocino, Sonoma, and Napa counties.) But we got there, checked into our sweet little treehouse, and then to Chad's and some time with the girls before dinner. Easy day. |
