All my life, one of the most exciting events is a trip to The City. San Francisco is an amazingly compact, dense, cosmopolitan enclave in a predominantly Western place: a window to a much wider world...

We began the day under a light marine layer, walked down to the Parkside for delicious baked goods and chai for Rochelle, Earl Grey for me, and watched the blackbirds pester us. No fear!  

Caught our very first Uber for a ride to Crepevine, where we shared a delicious California crêpe while preparing ourselves for the plunge into, first, popular science at the California Academy of the same, and then, across the oval to the Alice Neel 'People Come First' exhibition at the deYoung...
