Planet of the Grachts
The Aliens in Amsterdam

to boldly go where many already are
a civilization of hustle, bustle, and space ship shaped cars |
canals or grachts circle while trolleys seem to hover
aliens on foot, aliens on bicycles, aliens seeking cover |
but no traffic jams, just a perfect flow
when its your turn, you better go |
and go is only half of the story
when you begin, keep your pace, or here comes a big lorrie |
baaaah-ring....baaaah-ring...the warning cry of an approaching being powered two-wheeler
step aside our you'll be drilled into a street dealer |
cruising the straats hearing unknown sounds and phrases
aliens passing making me feel i was in a series of language mazes |
some sit and beg, some make music to earn their gilder
and one even hangs on a street lamp, juggling a soccer ball on his head to bewilder |
plenty of sights and museums to see including van gogh
and even streets of red glow |
window shopping taken to a legal level
more than 31 flavors self marketing, for a paid 20 minute date with the devil |
certain shops are filled by a haze
and most attending leave in a daze |
a unique, progressive style of governing that causes no harm
all ingredients that give Amsterdam such charm |
a society unlike any other with a seeming peace and happiness abound
a planet i will definitely visit the next time around |
