Easy drive from the Empress to Swartz Bay and the ferry to Salt Spring Island (SSI). We decided to forego Butchart Gardens after hearing a guy describe it as tourist ridden and too dear. The Royal BC Museum was such a treat, that we couldn't imagine Butchart being more interesting or worth more money. Into Ganges, SSI's main town, for market, laundry, shopping, and lunch. With that all done, we headed back south to our cottage, about 1,000 feet above the Salish Sea. Just south of east, the ever-present Mount Baker rears its snowy head. A gaggle of yachts in the bay at Russell Island, a protected reserve. Ferries plying back and forth between the mainland and the islands. Completely peaceful. |
The Cottage |
We won't be doing much for the rest of today or tomorrow except cooking good food, napping, hot tubbing, and watching the world go by.
