Back to the Sierras

Bright and early Friday morning, we're packed and ready for the traditional going away photo, this time in front of Sienna's place. 

While Rochelle does a couple of last minute errands in Mendocino, I consider our emblematic sculpture atop the Masonic Hall: Time combing the hair of Patience. The around the block and on the road.

Our twisty driveway to Civilization (i.e. a US Highway, in our case, the 101) was sunny, beautiful, and the slow movers were quick to take the pullouts. Brunch at Costeaux ... in training for Korean Barbecue, so only a bowl of the best French Onion soup on this continent, and then south for a visit with an old friend on Petaluma, a quick stop at Berkeley Bowl West, and then the *insane* transit of Berserkely and Oakland: traffic worse than ever!

Damiana takes us to Ohgane, a Korean Barbecue that has been in this location in various manifestations since, I think, 1959. Amazingly attentive service, delicious food that we cook ourselves, NOISY (but of course, with individual exhaust fans over every table!) ...but for us country cousins, the diversity of Oakland is wonderful.
