SFO 10 August 2021

2397 :

On the ground, SFO

Maybe the easiest travel day ever, and still ...what a relief to get the shoes off!

After a cordial farewell to Annelle and Jorey and a breakfast to last, we drove past the big grass wildfire uphill from Puako and to the airport where, except for the expected hold-up of inadequately staffed TSA, everything went like clockwork.

2398 :

In the air right on time; the south end of the Big Island laid out below as we make the sweeping right turn and pass Maui's south shore.

2399 :

Dinner is served right away, 3pm Hawaii time, but 6pm Pacific time, the time it's going to be when we land. Thai chicken, they called it. It was okay.

2400 :

Eastbound over the ocean, sunset comes and goes rapidly.

2401 :

Afterglow

Afterglow

2403 :

Full dark by the time we circle in south of the airport.

2404 :

Compared to Keahole Airort in Kona (KON) Sanf Francisco's airport is ...well, characteristic of San Francisco and northern California: stylish, relaxed, comfortable, welcoming. Like KON, SFO is overrun with tourists.

In our room by 11:03, actually for our bodies, a mere 8:03.

2405 :

It seems worth the extra cost of first class just to get on and off the plane first and have our luggage quickly. (Goddess's nose, it isn't the quality of the dinner!)

The hotel shuttle arrived a couple of minutes after we were ready for it, and here we are in our temporary digs at the Aloft hotel.
