a full English Breakfast
After one of Sally's "full English breakfasts" -- Michael only -- we caught the bus to the bus to London, and two hours later we got unceremoniously dumped on a chaotic street about one block (in an undisclosed direction) from Victorian Station.
Backtracking the onslaughts of big red double-decker buses, we found the station, stashed our bags, and wandered about trying to find the right bus to Westminster Bridge. After only a little frustration...

At Whitehall, Chad got in a little practice before his audition as a Queen's Household Guard.

Wow! We're in London!

Later the first day, we rode the London Eye. Then we found our way out to Muswell Hill via tube and bus at rush hour, where we found our Servas hosts ready for us.

On our second London day, we started out at The Tower. We arrived before the crowds and went straight for the Jewels.

Where they keep the Crown Jewels

The Sovereign's Sceptre, 1661
It wasn't crowded in the main jewel room, and I was able to go around six times unhindered, walk backwards on the moving sidewalk, and really study the gems and settings. The workmanship is superb ... and, of course, the stones are awesome, the biggest and best in the world. After seeing this, the gruesome business of the Bloody Tower wasn't worth our attention.
Chad took off for Wimbledon while Rochelle and I visited the White Tower, a marvellous Museum even if it is dedicated to the art of killing.
Interesting, isn't it, how God and Religion always get wrapped up in belligerence and warfare?
