Bend 6 June 2024

2827 :

quiet day on the Deschutes

This morning it's comfortably warm, still, and quiet. American (formerly Canada) Geese and ducks float by, carpenter wasps bumble into the house and need help to escape, bee-flies rummage the grasses on the river verge. We quietly enjoy it all.

Our “rustic cabin” has too many rooms – would accommodate four easily; we'll be here until tomorrow morning, so come on down! – and is one small cabin back from the river front, with a sliver of river view and easy access to the lawn, chairs, tiny sand beach, lots of water craft including a giant inflated goose.

Three simple errands on today's agenda, but mostly, just staying here and watching the river flow.

2829 :

Three items on the agenda: lunch at Wild Rose Northern Thai, negotiate with Enterprise to keep our car, and something for dinner salad. Maybe later, gelato from the neighborhood healthy food restaurant. (Almost certainly.)

2830 :

We have enjoyed Wild Rose before, but this time, it was lunch (our big meal) and I was a little better prepared. We had Grandfather's Tom Kha Gai (Chicken, sweeter than expected, chock full of chicken and 'shrooms) and the Northern Thai Sampler, pork larb, what southerners call chitlin's, and sticky rice to be rolled (by hand) into little ovoids and dipped in one of the sauces. Hot!
