We have found that adults do not travel well. However, waking up in a spectacular new place gives recovery a hearty good start! Sparkly blue morning; coffee and tea barely drunk, and we're off down the Beach Access across the street to see if there really is an ocean...

Really, not so much. We mostly hung out in the water. We went shopping. There was a lot of talking. The inter- and intra-family dynamics are fascinating, and often evoke laughter and a shared acknowledgment of consanguinity.  

Just another family day in Paradise. Morning: fewer clouds over Waimea summit, where our weather comes from.

For us, the day started with a good fruit breakfast and tea:     Except for the arrival (finally!) of Damiana and Rich, the day's main event was the trek to Keauhou and a Night Snorkel with Manta Rays.

After last night's late night return from the mantas, we got a slow start to market in Hawi – a disappointing market, with very few produce vendors. Nevertheless, we got some beautiful eggplants and some lettuce, a pineapple, and two gorgeous red onions...

So far, a tsunami warning (we are staying in a Tsunami Evacuation Zone) and a wildfire. Neither threatens us. The warning was withdrawn within the hour it was issued...

Wildfire under control, the brown sky has mostly dissipated; the wind is down. We're ready for our next crisis!

Fire mostly under control except for a few hot spots up where they may be just as happy to let it burn.   Finished the Ono for lunch.

This morning, as early as we could, Michael and three daughters went to Waimea Farmers Market. Our friend Brenda visited in the afternoon with her sister Deanna...
